Fluidised bed combustion differs from conventional pulverised coal combustion. It uses a continuous stream of air to create turbulence in a mixed bed of fuel, inert material and coarse fuel ash particles. Combustion occurs at lower temperatures typically between 800?C and 900?C. This report reviews the fundamental aspects of the technology.
